Prayer and Meditation – What We Need to be Strong

A big part of a mom’s strength should be derived from above. It is important to start the day with a short prayer even before you get up from bed. Kneel and be silent and you are expressing a worship that is valued by God. Prayer means not only to present all our concerns to Him. It is a venue to thank Him for the day that has passed, the restful and safe night, the peace of mind, the health of our love ones, His guidance in the decisions that we make and many more reasons. Just to think of all the good things that we enjoy will take us more than two minutes of prayer, if only we will express our gratitude to each of these blessings.

After the thanksgiving, a confession should be presented to make sure that our heart is pure, recognizing our shortcomings whether we have done them intentionally or unintentionally. It is important to be cleansed before God when we present our requests and petitions. In 1 John 1:9, the Bible says that “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness”.

Then, we can present our concerns and requests. These can be very specific as the Lord would want to hear even our simple needs and wants. He likes to hear us present our requests just as we, parents, would want to hear the concerns of our children. This way, we know that they are recognizing our influence, concern or even power over them since they are still young. God would like to hear every details of what we request from Him. Let’s do it everyday and make it a daily routine. This is our way of making sure that we have the strength that we need in facing all the different daily battles in our life.
